*1 The time limit is based on the starting gun.

*2 Course closure times will be set for traffic, security, and event operation purposes. Runners who are extremely behind the cut-off time pace will be required to stop competing not only at the designated course closure points but also at any time or place.

*3 A separate administrative fee will be required.

*4 Charity donations are included. Participants will select a charity to support from a list of organizations provided by the Organizers.

*5 The maximum number of participants includes the number of slots granted to donors of the “Furusato (hometown) Donation” program for their contribution to the City of Nagoya.

*6 All categories other than the Overseas are only open to residents of Japan.

Qualifications
Qualifications

1) Half Marathon

- 18 years of age or older (excluding high school students).

- The use of wheelchairs is not permitted.

2) 10km

- 15 years of age or older (excluding junior high school students).

- The use of wheelchairs is permitted (except for competition wheelchairs).

* The age requirements shall be based on age as of race day.

* Visually impaired participants who have difficulty running by themselves and wheelchair users may have one companion, but guide dogs are not permitted.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until reaching the maximum number of participants.

*Applications for the “Furusato Donation” slots will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from Friday, July14 to Friday, October 20 (Japan time).

*Applications for the Charity category will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, October 16 (Japan time).

[Overseas Residents and Applicants Who Prefer Applications in English]

*Applications for Overseas Entry will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, October 30 (Japan time). Details will be announced on the race official website.

* Overall Awards will be given based on the gross time from the starting gun, while Age Group Awards will be determined by the net time taken from the moment when the start line is crossed.

* Winners of the Overall Awards will be excluded from nominations for the Age Group Awards. No ceremony will be held for the Age Group Awards, and certificates will be mailed at a later date.

* One male and one female among the top-performing finishers will be sent to the Sydney Marathon.

A record certificate with a gross time measured from the starting gun, a net time measured from the moment when the start line is crossed, and split times measured every 5 km will be available for download on the race official website at a later date.

* The records will not be recognized as JAAF-certified records.

* Certificates will be issued only to runners who have finished the race before the time limit.

Personal Information
In recognition of the importance of protecting personal information, the Organizers will comply with the act on the protection of personal information and related laws and regulations and handle personal information in accordance with the personal information protection policy of the Organizers. The Organizers will use personal information for participation guidance, notification of records and related information, provision of service from event sponsors, supporters, and concerned organizations, publication of results (rankings), etc., to deliver better service to participants. The Organizers or their contractors may contact applicants to confirm their application details.

(1) All participants must give full consideration to their physical conditions and make thorough preparations for race participation, including sufficient training and a medical check-up prior to race day.

(2) The Organizers will transport participants’ baggage from the start to the finish area. Note that there will be a limit to the size of baggage that can be transported. The arrival may be delayed due to traffic conditions, etc.

(3) No designs, logos, or trademarks representing corporate or product names may be worn or displayed for advertising purposes at the event site (including the race course). Making assertions or advertising with banners, signs, etc., is prohibited.

(4) Photographs, etc., may be sold on consignment with the approval of the Organizers.

(5) In addition to the above, participants must follow instructions given by the Organizers with respect to any matters regarding the event.

Guidelines for Costumes, etc.
The following (1) through (11), as well as any acts or costumes of participants that violate the competition rules, other laws and regulations, or public order and morals, will not be permitted. Any participant whom the Organizers deem to be in violation of any of the aforementioned may not be allowed to take part in the event or kept from continuing running even after the race start. Prior to race entry, all applicants must understand and agree that no objections to this shall be accepted. 

(1) Any acts that may injure other competitors or cause them to fall, such as wearing clothing or personal effects that may harm other runners or that cover the entire face.

(Examples)

- Wearing clothes or gear that may injure other runners on contact, such as swords, sticks, armor, clothing with rivets, etc., or wearing full-body animal/mascot suits.

- Carrying or shouldering large items longer than 30 cm, such as banners and flags.

- Wearing skirts with long hems, kimonos, or other garments that pose a high risk of falling.

- Running side by side with other runners or in any other manner that is likely to obstruct the path of other participants.

(2) Wearing clothing or other attire that may make other runners or spectators uncomfortable and is inappropriate for a sporting event.

(Examples)

- Being naked or near-naked wearing only underwear.

- Wearing costumes that suggest nudity.

(3) Wearing clothing that promotes political or religious assertions or advertising, etc.

(Examples)

- A sash with a political party’s name or clothing printed with a political or religious statement.

- Costumes that represent or imitate a politician, religious leader, or product.

(4) Wearing clothing or other items that promote or advertise personal names, specific regions, or organizations that have not been approved by the Organizers.

(5) Use of any devices that may be misinterpreted by other runners as the starting signal and cause confusion in the event operation (e.g., lighting devices that produce strong lights or flashes, whistles, horns, fireworks which produce popping or explosive sounds, etc.) or any device that produces a loud noise and may interfere with other runners.

(6) Delaying behaviors such as dancing, acting or standing still at or near the start line, the finish line, or anywhere else along the course.

(7) Act of soliciting monetary contributions, signatures, etc.

(8) Attempt to obstruct emergency vehicles or pedestrians from crossing the course during the competition when they are permitted or instructed to do so by the Organizers.

(9) Wearing clothing that may cause difficulty in anti-terrorism measures.

(10) Wearing clothing or other gear that may cause difficulty in the use of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) or other medical equipment.

(11) Any cases other than (1) through (10) that the Organizers deem unsuitable or inappropriate for participation in the event.

Terms of Application
Terms of Application

All applicants must agree to the following Terms of Application before applying.

(1) Applicants must understand and agree to these Application Guidelines before applying for this race. No changes to events (race distance), cancellations, or refunds of entry fees for personal reasons shall be accepted after application.

(2) Duplicate applications by the same person are not permitted.

(3) Simultaneous participation in the Nagoya City Marathon is not permitted.

(4) False declarations of age, gender, records, etc., or participation of unregistered persons in place of the registered applicants (foul participation) are prohibited. Any individual or group discovered to have committed foul participation will not only be disqualified but may also be banned from entries to future editions of this race.

(5) No substitute participation or transfer of entry rights is allowed in this race. Any applicant who is discovered to have committed such an act will be disqualified, and the Organizers will not provide any compensation.

(6) In the event that falls within the above (2), (3), (4), or (5), the entry fee will not be refunded after application.

(7) The information provided at the time of application may not be amended, altered, or cancelled after submission. If there is any issue with the registered information, the Administrative Office will contact the applicant by email or phone.

(8) Phone inquiries to the Runner Call Center or the Administrative Office regarding the application status are not accepted.

(9) The Organizers will not be responsible for any delays in application attributable to Internet connection problems, etc.

(10) All applicants for the General Drawing category will be notified of the draw results on “My Page” of the GO SPORTS WEB. The results will also be sent to the applicant’s registered email addresses; however, the Organizers will not reconfirm any non-delivery or non-receipt due to an incomplete email address or any other reasons. All applicants are strongly requested to check the results on My Page as there may be cases where the notification emails are considered a bulk distribution and cannot reach the applicant’s inbox.

(11) Failure to pay the entry fee by the designated date will result in automatic cancellation and ineligibility to participate in the race.

(12) If the event is unable to be held as planned due to force majeure, etc., an online marathon (virtual race) will be held as an alternative event for the whole or part of participants (chosen by a draw, etc.) and the relevant runners will be asked to participate in it. In such case, the entry fee will not be refunded, and participants will not be granted the right to run in the next edition of the event.

(13) The Organizers will not be responsible for any late arrivals to the event or necessary registration procedures due to delays in public transportation or traffic conditions.

(14) The Organizers reserve the portrait rights and the rights to publish videos, photographs, articles, records, and location information during the event and applicants’ names, ages, birth dates, addresses (country, prefecture, or city/town/village), etc. on TV, newspapers, magazines, and websites.

(15) In case of injury or illness of a participating runner during the event, the Organizers will provide first aid to the runner and, if necessary, arrange emergency transportation. In such cases, the Organizers will provide the runner’s name, address, contact information, medical history, etc., to the medical institution and emergency responders. All participants shall be deemed to have agreed that the Organizers will request the hospital to which the participant has been transported to disclose her medical information.

(16) The Organizers will not be liable for any injury, illness, loss of personal belongings, or accident during the event in any way beyond the administration of emergency first-aid relief unless such is caused by the Organizers’ intentional act or gross negligence. However, in case of slight negligence of the Organizers, the Organizers will be liable up to the insured amount.

(17) The Organizers will handle the personal information of participants in compliance with the laws and regulations for the protection of personal information. Participants shall agree in advance that the Organizers will use such information to provide participation information, notify records and related information, provide services from event sponsors, supporters, and relevant organizations, and announce the results (rankings), etc., for the purpose of improving the quality of services to participants.

(18) This event shall be conducted in compliance with all relevant laws of Japan. In addition, the event will be managed in accordance with the conditions prevailing at the time, with reference to precautions and other information issued by the government, the Japan Sports Agency, and the JAAF. If a participant does not meet the participation standards, etc., set by the event, she may be denied participation in the event or entry to the venue. In such case, the entry fee will not be refunded.

(19) In addition to the above Terms of Application, this event will be conducted in accordance with the race instructions set forth separately by the Organizers.
